This piece is a direct result of my growing affinity for all things wood. After creating a composite piece of wood by clamping different types of wood together, I mounted it off center on to a lathe to produce the diagonal stripes pictured. I then removed it from the lathe and sanded down the balls on each end by hand, before finally finishing it off with a food-safe finish to ensure my labor of love would be suitable for use in the kitchen. Pleasant to the touch and fitting my hand comfortably, I know that I have created an artifact I can use for many years to come.
